Rapul Rezal, born Raapulrizal bin Abd Karim, is a well-established singer and composer in Brunei Darussalam, known for his longevity, vocal strength, and consistent contributions to the local and regional music scene since the mid-2000s.
He began his musical journey in 2003 and became professionally active in 2006, steadily building a strong catalogue of solo works. Among his notable singles are Takkan Ku Sesali, Cinta Terhalang, Tersenyum Kembali, Inilah Sebenarnya, Terakhir Bagiku, Mungkir, Untukmu, Kesal, Alnilam, and Nyawa. These releases reflect his signature style, emotionally driven, vocally rich, and rooted in storytelling that resonates with a broad audience. In addition to his solo career, his role as a member of D’3vO further strengthened his presence in the industry, with group tracks such as Disetiap Nafasku, Luka, and Dentuman Hati gaining strong recognition.
Rapul’s career is marked by a series of notable achievements. He emerged as Champion of Best914 (2004) and Bintang Radio (2007), while also securing runner-up positions in multiple editions of Bintang Radio and other national competitions. On a regional level, he placed fourth in the Bintang Klasik Nusantara competition held in Kuala Lumpur. His success extends through his work with D’3vO, including winning Anugerah Express E-Hits and receiving Best Vocal Group accolades twice. His single Inilah Sebenarnya also reached an international platform through participation in the ABU Radio Song Festival, highlighting his ability to represent Brunei on a wider stage.
Beyond competitions and recordings, Rapul has been actively involved in media collaborations and high-level performances. He participated in a joint production between Radio Televisyen Brunei and Mediacorp through the program Rapsodi, showcasing cross-border creative collaboration. He is also frequently featured in national and diplomatic events, including performances for Brunei’s National Day celebrations and ASEAN-related official functions, where he performs regional repertoire for international delegates.
